Amber Alert Website Online After Confusion

Posted:

DOVER, Del. - The Amber Alert website was one of the many agencies affected by the partial government shutdown. Earlier Monday, the website was unavailable. Public outcry seems to have forced the federal government to reactivate the website.

Anyone that tried to access the Amber Alert website got this message: Due to the lapse in federal funding, this Office of Justice Program (OJP) website is unavailable.

"I think it's a very dangerous situation," said Rapha Moore of Dover who has three grandchildren. "Anything that's dealing with the children or the endangerment thereof is a very tedious and important matter."

Delaware State Police say the website was down but that did not affect the Amber Alert System or their efforts in finding missing children.

A few hours later, the website was back up and running to eliminate any confusion.
