Somerset County Fire Ruled Arson

CHANCE, Md.- Authorities have ruled as arson a Wednesday fire that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a vacant home in Somerset County.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire broke out at around 9:45 a.m. at a two story single family house located on the 23000 block of Cemetery Road in Chance.

It took 20 firefighters from the Deal Island, Princess Anne and Mt. Vernon fire companies about 45 minutes to get the blaze under control.

There were no reported injuries. The estimated cost of the damage was $30,000.

Investigators said the fire occurred in the first floor interior of the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
