MILLINGTON, Md.- Members of Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Friday at a home in Millington.
Police said that shortly after midnight, a 28-year-old man was found dead in the home on Teat Lane off of Red Lion Branch Road. Investigators said he was shot to death with a small caliber gun.
According to police, an initial investigation indicates a small group of friends were at the home when a weapon was fired and the victim was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers said everyone stayed at the house and they are cooperating with the investigation. The weapon has been recovered, according to police.
The Sheriff's Office said the case remains under investigation. The body of the victim, whose name has not yet been released, has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. The person who fired the weapon has been identified and questioned as well as others at the home at the time of the incident.
Police said that as the investigation progresses, it will be reviewed by the Queen Anne's County State's Attorney's Office for possible charges.
