Lawyers For Del. Courthouse Shooting Want More Time

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Attorneys for relatives of a man who killed his former daughter-in-law and another woman at a Delaware courthouse say they need more time to defend their clients on federal conspiracy and stalking charges.

Public defenders on Friday asked a judge to extend an Oct. 15 deadline for pretrial briefs and to schedule a trial no sooner than March in the case against David Matusiewicz, his mother, Lenore, and his sister, Amy Gonzalez. The three are charged with conspiracy and stalking of David's ex-wife, Christine Belford, resulting in her death.

Belford was killed in February by her former father-in-law, Thomas Matusiewicz, who also killed her friend Laura Mulford before exchanging gunfire with police and killing himself.

Matusiewicz's family has denied knowing that he planned to kill Belford.
