VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - A rare crocodilian has died in his enclosure at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center in Virginia Beach.
According to media reports, aquarium members were feeding animals Tuesday morning when they found Grover, a 28-year-old tomistoma, unresponsive. Officials said Grover had no known health issues, and the cause of death was unknown.
Grover and his habitat mate, Gloria, were one of seven pairs of endangered tomistomas in the U.S. Aquarium officials said Grover and Gloria had produced several eggs, but no were viable.
Gloria remains in good health and will remain on display.
