Dominion Virginia Power Seeks Fuel Charge Reduction

RICHMOND, Va. – Dominion Virginia Power is trying to get its fuel charge reduced, which would mean a cheaper monthly electricity bill for customers.

The company made the request with the State Corporation Commission on Tuesday.

Dominion's chief operating officer, Paul Koonce, said the fuel charge adjustment is not required for another seven months, but the company wants to pass along savings to customers.

The change would trim a typical bill by $3.70 a month.

Dominion has asked that the change take effect Dec. 1.

If the request is approved, the company said its overall electric rates will be down to virtually the same level they were more than five years ago.
