Salisbury Woman Arrested for False Accusations Against Neighbor

SALISBURY, Md.- A Salisbury woman is in custody after police say she falsely accused a neighbor of brandishing a gun and pointing it at her.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, a deputy responded to the 600 block of Pacific Avenue on Tuesday, after Denise Carolyn Carter, 45, reported the alleged incident. Upon further investigation, the deputy detected that Carter repeatedly varied her account of the incident.

After discovering that the person identified by Carter had no firearms, police said the investigating deputy concluded that Carter had fabricated the entire incident in an attempt to get the neighbor in trouble.

The deputy placed Carter under arrest for making a false statement to law enforcement. She was ordered held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $3,000 bond.
