Pocomoke Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

POCOMOKE CITY, Md.- Pocomoke City police say a traffic stop on Route 13 led to a big drug arrest.

Police said that on Wednesday morning officers stopped a car for speeding and a defective taillight. After further investigation, officers said seized a large quantity of "KHAT," $23,957 in cash, and evidence of intra-state receipts for large quantities of cigarettes from the vehicle. "KHAT" is a hallucinogenic narcotic, usually grown in East Africa and southern Arabia, that is either smoked or chewed.

The driver, who police have not yet identified, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of CDS.

Police continue to investigate the incident and say there may be more charges filed against the driver and other individuals.
