DOVER, Del.- An active duty Air Force member stationed at Dover Air Force Base has been charged with distributing child pornography online.

The Delaware Attorney General's Office announced charges Tuesday against 37-year-old Joel W. Thorpe. He is facing 25 counts of dealing in child pornography.

The office said that during an investigation into the online distribution of child pornography, detectives with the Delaware Child Predator Task Force identified Thorpe as a person of interest. Detectives made contact with him Monday at Dover Air Force Base and took him to Delaware State Police Troop #3 for further investigation. At the same time, detectives executed a search warrant at Thorpe's home on Edgewood Road in Dover. Authorities said that during the search, multiple computers and numerous digital storage devices were seized. An initial forensic examination of the seized evidence recovered multiple images of child pornography, investigators said.

As a result of the investigation detectives arrested Thorpe and charged him with 25 counts of dealing in child pornography.  He was arraigned via videophone by JP Court #2 and was taken to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $375,000 cash bail.

Following Thorpe's arrest on the aforementioned charges, he was ordered held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $375,000 cash bail.
