SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury woman is facing multiple charges after she led deputies on a chase Wednesday, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators said a sheriff's deputy observed 18-year-old Markeeta Lateece Waters driving without a seatbelt in the area of Naylor Mill Road and Jersey Road. According to police, when the deputy directed her to pull into a parking lot, Waters sped off.

The deputy followed Waters until she attempted to pull into a driveway in the 7000 block of Dublin Road, where authorities say she did not live.

Waters told the deputy she was on her way to see her probation agent and could not be late, according to police. They said they later discovered her driving privileges had been suspended and revoked by the state of Maryland.

Authorities charged Waters with attempting to flee and elude, driving while suspended, driving while revoked and reckless driving. She's being held on $15,000 bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
