Veterans Day Freebies and Deals

WASHINGTON- (WBOC)- From the moment you wake up until you're sound asleep, Veterans Day is a Freebie Day for veterans, active military personnel and their spouses.

Sit down at Denny's for all-you-can-eat stacks of buttermilk pancakes. Golden Corral, Applebee's, Chili's, Olive Garden, Friday's, Texas Roadhouse are just a few restaurants offering free meals and special menus.

Great Clips has you covered. Vets can walk in on Monday with no appointment and get free haircuts. If you don't have the time, you can still grab a rain check for a freebie haircut.

Check out any of the nation's 100 national parks. All parks with admission fees are waiving them for vets over the three-day weekend.

Participating Massage Envy shops in Washington, D.C.; Maryland; and Northern Virginia region offer a free, one-hour massage (worth $49). Appointments are mandatory.

Meineke Car Care Center, is offering free oil changes to veterans and military members from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Vets get free access on Monday to a Kiplinger's and Wells Fargo-sponsored online tool valued at $49.95, that helps vets create a personalized strategy to boost Social Security benefits. Instructions at www.SocialSecurityforVeterans.com.

Keep in mind that most businesses require proof of military service, which can include a VA Universal Access Card, Military I.D., DD-214 (Discharge Papers), Veterans Service Organization Card (VSO's include groups like the VFW, DAV, AmVets, MOAA, FRA, and the American Legion), or in some cases businesses will accept a picture of the veteran in uniform.
