Accidental House Fire Causes $1.3 Mil. in Damages

ROCK HALL, Md-  A chimney fire destroyed a home causing more than one-million dollars in damages.

State fire investigators said the fire broke out around 6:40 p.m. on Monday night at a home on the 4000 block of Piney Neck Road in Rock Hall, Maryland.

According to the state fire marshal's office, the blaze caused $1.3 million in damages to the structure of the home and $700,000 in damages to contents inside of the home.

No injuries were reported. Authorities said it took 45 firefighters about an hour to get the flames under control.

Fire investigators ruled the cause of the fire as accidental and a result of a failure with the chimney.
