Maryland Man Charged with Impersonating Officer

Posted: Updated:

SHADY SIDE, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County police say a 31-year-old man posed as a police officer, using a car equipped with emergency lights to pull over a motorist.

Police say 31-year-old Jonathan Conner was driving a Chevrolet Caprice equipped with emergency lights and an antenna to make it resemble a police cruiser when he pulled over a man on Tuesday evening. Conner told the driver he had pulled him over for speeding, but police say the man became suspicious because Conner wasn't wearing a uniform and didn't have a badge or credentials. He drove away and called police.

Conner is charged with impersonating a police officer and false imprisonment, as well as multiple traffic offenses.
