Sentence Above Guidelines Sought in Va. Sex Ad Case

Posted:

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Federal prosecutors are recommending that a former Library of Congress worker spend 120 months in prison for stalking and identification fraud.

The recommended sentence for 61-year-old Kenneth Edward Kuban of Reva is about four times the sentencing guidelines range of 30 to 37 months.

Prosecutors made the recommendation in a sentencing memo filed this week. The memo says the guidelines don't adequately reflect the extent or seriousness of the conduct involved.

Kuban pleaded guilty in August. During the plea hearing, he admitted that he posed online as his ex-girlfriend and posted more than 160 false ads on Craigslist directing men to her home with the promise of sex.

He's scheduled to be sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Charlottesville.
