CENTREVILLE, Md.- Maryland State Police say a New York man is behind bars after troopers seized 56 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Centreville.

At around 2:42 p.m. Tuesday, a state trooper stopped a 2013 Ford Passenger Car for failing to move over for stopped emergency vehicles on the shoulder of southbound Rt. 301. The trooper called for a K-9 unit, and conducted a scan of the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the car revealed two 28-pound bales of marijuana in the trunk of the rental vehicle, police said.

The driver, Terron Gowayne Blair, 28, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested and charged with import of 5-45 kilograms of marijuana, possession of a large amount, posession of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute.

Blair is being held on $150,000 bond at the Queen Anne's County Detention Center.
