BALTIMORE, Md. – David Langan scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for a double-double to lead the Wesley College men's basketball team to a 66-55 victory in its season opener against Mount St. Mary College in the first night of the Johns Hopkins Blue Jay Invitational on Friday night. The Wolverines will take on the winner of the Johns Hopkins vs. Moravian matchup on Saturday, November 16, at 8 pm for the Tournament title.

A senior center from Sayreville, N.J., Langan showed why he was named a Preseason All-American by making 12-of-17 shots from the floor.  Langan also was credited with four steals and a blocked shot against the Blue Knights who finished the 2012-13 season at 19-9.

Wesley also got 16 points from junior Quincy Pettiford while senior James Livingston scored seven points along with four rebounds and four assists in his Wolverines debut.  Senior Eric Selby finished with six points and dished out four assists as sophomore Wayne Lennon, the reigning Capital Athletic Conference and Mid-Atlantic Region Rookie of the Year tallied five points and a career-high eight rebounds.

Also key for Wesley was its dominance on the boards, outrebounding Mount St. Mary, 44-32, including 17 on the offensive glass. The Wolverines also outshot the Blue Jays, 40.9% to 32.0%.

Trailing, 24-19, with 11:34 left in the first half after a MSMC three by Stephen Steyer, Wesley scored 12 straight points to take a 31-24 lead, holding the Blue Jays scoreless for 10 minutes and 42 seconds.  Pettiford scored half of the Wolverines points during the run which was capped off with a trifecta by Livingston.

After Mount St. Mary got to within four points early in the second half, Langan scored four quick points for the Wolverines to which the Blue Jays had no answer.

Donte Howell led Mount St. Mary's with 14 points and Chris Pisciotta finished with ten.
