RICHMOND, Va. (AP)- The Virginia State Crime Commission is looking at ways to reduce cigarette trafficking.

One proposal calls for lawmakers to study the feasibility of the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control coordinating law enforcement efforts against cigarette trafficking.

The commission's staff says the ABC has experience auditing businesses, conducting inspections and verifying that retail businesses are real.

The commission will consider endorsing the proposal and other draft legislation at its Dec. 2 meeting.
