Virginia Justices Asked to Reconsider Tech Reversal

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The state Supreme Court is being asked to reconsider its decision to overturn a wrongful death finding against the state stemming from the April 2007 massacre at Virginia Tech.

The request Tuesday is from attorneys for the families of two students who were among 32 killed by a student-gunman on the campus in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

A jury in Montgomery County in March 2012 found the state negligent for failing to alert the campus of the first killings on campus. But in late October, the court overturned the jury's finding.

The justices agreed with the state - that there was no way to anticipate student Seung-Hui Cho's (sung-wee joh's) deadly intentions.

Attorneys for the families asked the court to "respect the jury's findings."
