Storm Spoils Some Travel Plans In Sussex County

Posted:

MILTON, Del.-Wet and dreary, that was Route 1 in Delaware Tuesday, and drivers shouldn't expect things to end anytime soon.

"It is going to continue till about noon tomorrow and that's when things are supposed to dry out and winds are supposed to pick up," said Bob King with DelDOT.

But until then, the weather is putting a damper on Andy Orhel's vacation.

"We like to come down to Dover, change of pace, go to Byler's, the casinos and some of the other stores in the area," said the Lancaster, Pa. resident.

If the rain doesn't let up then he might have to cut his trip short.

"It depends on the storm we might leave late tomorrow afternoon or if the storm is bad enough we may leave tomorrow morning,' Orhel said.

Temperatures during the storm aren't expected to drop below the freezing mark but DelDOT has their salt trucks ready just in case.

"What we're doing to help facilitate the traffic is we're ceasing all maintenance operations on all the roads in the state from Wednesday at noon to Sunday at midnight and all of the tolls plazas we'll have extra lanes manned to facilitate traffic," King said.

The storm is expected to be out of the area by Wednesday afternoon.
