Two Men Arrested For Drugs, Weapons in Dover


DOVER, Del. - Police in Dover arrest two men after they say they found drugs and a gun.

Police say they noticed a group of men loitering around 11 a.m. Tuesday along North New Street.

Officers say they then approached the men and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from one person's clothing. Officers say they then tried to detain the men.

Investigators say James Parker began struggling with officers and then pulled a loaded .32 Smith and Wesson revolver from under his jacket and tried to get rid of it. 

Police say they found 4.2 grams of marijuana and one 10 mg Oxycodone tablet in Parker's possession.

Officers say Hughes, who was with Parker, was found to be in possession of 24 individual bags of marijuana, packaged for sale, with a total weight of 19 grams. 

Hughes and Parker were committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.

Hughes was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and loitering.

Parker was held on a slew of charges, including possession of a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, and resisting arrest.

Hughes is being held on a $4,750 bond. Parker is being held on a $17,000 bond.
