Del. Man Arrested for Stealing Empty Beer Kegs in O.C., Rehoboth

OCEAN CITY, Md.- Police have arrested a man accused of stealing empty beer kegs from bars and restaurants in Ocean City and Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Ocean City police said that between July and November, they received several reports involving thefts of the empty beer kegs in Ocean City. The empty kegs were allegedly stolen from the rear of each bar and restaurant that was victimized, according to police.

During the investigation, Ocean City police said they made contact with Rehoboth Beach police detectives who shared information about similar reports from bars and restaurant in their community. Together with Rehoboth Beach police, Ocean City police said they were able to determine that the suspect, 33-year-old Jason J. Wilz of Millsboro, Del., was involved in the thefts in both areas.

Wilz has been charged by Ocean City police with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary, two counts of theft ($1,000-$10,000), two counts of theft scheme ($1,000-$10,000) and three counts of theft under $1,000. He is currently being held in the Sussex Correctional Institute for similar charges from Rehoboth Beach police.
