DSU Track & Field Hornets Begin Season on a Solid Note at Navy’s Lid Lifter Competition

(Annapolis, Md.) – Competing against numerous programs within the Mid-Atlantic Region, the Delaware State women's track & field team began its season with the Navy Lid Lifter competition Tuesday evening.

Leading the way for the Hornets was Rayanna Relerford, who was able to place fifth (1:17.98) in the 500-Meter Dash.

In addition to Relerford's day, she along with Ketsia Dornevil, Omealla Gordon and Shi'erra Hilliard, crossed the finish line at 3:55.60 to place third in the 4x400-Meter Relay to lead the way for Delaware State.

Rounding out the day for DSU, Maria Gwengi turned in a top-five performance in the Shot Put by finishing fourth with a mark of 40-10.25 (12.45m).

Coming up, the Hornets will be back in action Jan. 10 when they head to Manhattan, N.Y. for the Collegiate Series competition.
