Investigators Unable to Determine Cause of Church Fire

Posted:

LINEBORO, Md. (AP) - State and federal investigators say they are unable to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed at 160-year-old church in Lineboro.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said in a statement Thursday that Tuesday's early morning fire at the Lazarus Church began in the sanctuary and the attic space above it.

But investigators said because of the damage done by the blaze, estimated at $4 million, a cause for the fire cannot be determined.
