WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A store owner who pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a 15-year-old who broke into his business has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Lee A. Turner had pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of Naj'm  Hickmond. He was sentenced Friday in Superior Court in Wilmington.

Prosecutors say Turner co-owned a clothing store in Wilmington which had been burglarized several times. Authorities say on June 17, 2012, Turner was cleaning up the store from a burglary when several people came in through the back entrance.

Prosecutors say Turner fired his gun three times, killing Hickmond and wounding an 11-year-old boy.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports that Turner apologized to Hickmond's family in court, saying the killing weighs heavily on him.
