DOVER, Del.- Guard Raven Bankston on Monday garnered her second MEAC Rookie of the Week honors this season, after averaging 19.5 points per contest in two games for the Delaware State women's basketball team (3-4, 0-1 MEAC).
In DSU's thrilling 90-83 overtime victory at home over George Mason, Bankston was one of four players to score in double figures as she poured in 18 points (6-of-15).
Later in the week, despite the Lady Hornets' 80-75 loss at home to Coppin State, the Detroit, Mich. native, scored a team-high 21 points (7-of-21), including a 5-for-6 (.833) output from the charity stripe.
For the season, Bankston sits sixth in the MEAC in scoring (19 ppg) and 12th in field goal percentage (.421), while shooting 76 percent (29-of-38) from the free throw line and a team best 31 percent (8-of-26) from the beyond the arc. Additionally, she averages two assists, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.
Coming up, Bankston and the rest of the Lady Hornets will tipoff a season-long three-game road swing this Saturday against No. 8 Maryland at 7 p.m.
