RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell is set to recommend new funding for prisoner re-entry and rights restoration when lays out his two-year spending plan next week.
Officials said Monday that McDonnell's budget next Monday will include funding for both policy areas.
The prisoner re-entry initiatives include funding for emergency housing for offenders upon release and increased funds for inmate education programs. It also provides funding to match a federal grant for substance abuse treatment services.
On the rights restoration initiative, McDonnell is proposing increased funding to support the operations and management of the automatic restoration of civil rights process.
