Charitable Fund for Ocean City Church Fire Victim

OCEAN CITY, Md.- After surviving the devastating fire at Shepherd's Crook food pantry, run by St. Paul's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church in Ocean City on Nov. 26, Dana Truitt is now recovering at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.

Family and friends say Truitt is keeping her spirits up as she recovers, and is expected home in a few weeks.

"I got to see her, she looked great, I was surprised," said boss Spiro Buas. "I was a little afraid to go up there and I was really pleasantly surprised when I saw her."

But the fire has left her family with expensive medical bills, and costly trips to Baltimore to visit Truitt. That is why Truitt's boss at the Buckingham Hotel, Spiro Buas, is establishing a charitable fund to help pay for her recovery and expenses when she comes home.

"It's going for her medical expenses that aren't covered," he said. "Transportation for families to go up and visit and stay with her and whatever when she gets back."

Donations can be made at any Bank of Ocean City Branch or can be made online at www.ocrooms.com.
