Gov. McDonnell Proposes Water Quality Improvement

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Gov. Bob McDonnell is proposing state funding in the next two-year budget cycle to improve water quality in Virginia's rivers and the Chesapeake Bay.
The governor announced the proposals on Thursday.
The budget proposals target Chesapeake Bay restoration, pollution reduction efforts, storm water grants, oyster replenishment programs.
The proposal also includes funding for the Tangier Seawall and other water quality projects.
Officials say that with the new proposals, McDonnell's administration has invested more than $460 million in water quality projects over the last four years.
