CRISFIELD, Md – A Crisfield accountant who was previously arrested and charged with theft and forgery is facing a new set of charges.

Maryland State Police said Friday that they arrested 45-year-old Chris Sterling, who owns Chris Sterling CPA PA in Crisfield.

Through their investigation, troopers say they discovered Sterling was an accountant for Somers Cove Marina in 2011. According to investigators, Sterling stole $5,400 from the marina's checking account to pay the IRS for back payroll taxes for another one of his clients.

Authorities took Sterling into custody on Friday morning. He is charged with two counts of theft and is being held on $25,000 bond.

In September, MSP arrested Sterling in connection with another theft investigation. According to police, a 10-year client of Sterling discovered that Sterling had been stealing money from him. Investigators said the victim stated that between 2010 and 2013, Sterling had forged 93 checks in the amount of $56,830.

In that case, Sterling was charged with theft, theft scheme, forgery and related offenses.

And in October, MSP charged Sterling with theft, theft scheme, forgery and related offenses following accusations that he forged 56 checks in the amount of $23,695 from Liberty Rock Church between December 2010 and August 2013.
