Delaware Supreme Court Upholds Conviction

Posted:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - The Delaware Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of man who went on a two-state shooting rampage that left two people dead and four wounded.

The court this week turned down an appeal by Allison Lamont Norman, who is serving life in prison for the 2007 shootings in southern Delaware and Maryland.

The Supreme Court rejected Norman's claims of ineffective assistance of counsel, errors by the trial judge, and prosecutorial misconduct.

In convicting Norman, who proclaimed the night before the shootings that he was "the Messiah who ruled the world," jurors rejected defense arguments that he was mentally ill and thought he was protecting children from aliens from outer space when he donned a bulletproof vest, armed himself with a 9mm handgun and started shooting.
