Fire Damages Mardela Springs Mobile Home

Updated:

MARDELA SPRINGS, Md.- Authorities have ruled as accidental a weekend fire that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a mobile home in Mardela Springs.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday at the 12-foot- by 65-foot mobile home located at 23669 Ocean Gateway.

It took 30 firefighters from the Mardela Springs, Sharptown, Hebron and Vienna volunteer fire companies approximately 10 minutes to get the fire under control.

There were no reported injuries. The fire caused an estimated $5,000 in damage to the home and another $2,000 in damage to its contents.

Investigators determined the fire started in the kitchen and was caused due to a malfunction in electrical wiring in the stove exhaust hood.

The Red Cross is assisting the home's occupants.
