Urban Bike Project Moving to New Space

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP)- The Urban Bike Project is moving into new space in Wilmington.

The group is moving into in a city-owned building that once housed police horses. Leaders say they'll have more space and better visibility in the community in the new location.

Executive Director Laura Wilburn says the current building was slated for demolition. She says volunteers are setting up in the new space, which has concrete floors, bay doors for loading bicycles and utility sinks for washing greasy hands.

The Urban Bike Project provides educational programming and mechanical assistance to city residents and youth. The Free Bike Program offers refurbished bicycles to adults and youth referred by a social service agency or community organization who need a bike for transportation or health purposes.
