UPS and FedEx Delays Frustrate Customers Nationwide and on Delmarva

Posted:

DOVER, Del.- FedEx and UPS will have some catching up to do this holiday season.

Shipping problems caused delays in deliveries for many people across the country and the problem impacted some people on Delmarva as well.

One of them was Dotty Dempsey of Dover who said that the one thing missing under her tree was the compound bow she wanted to give her granddaughter on Christmas Day.

Dempsey said she was only able to give half of a Christmas gift instead.

"We bought her targets and arrows and everything and we had it all wrapped up now they are kind of useless," Dempsey said

Dempsey admitted the purchase was last minute because trying to find the bow in local stores had gotten her nowhere, so she ordered the present online this past Friday.

"I found it at Cabela's," she said, "they guaranteed delivery before Christmas so it left Cabelas's 21st of December and was to be delivered before the 24th."

But Dempsey said UPS didn't deliver the gift on the 24th, leaving her naturally disappointed.

UPS and FedEx said that they both run into shipping problems nationwide. In some cases because of bad weather but also because of overloaded systems.

"I think yesterday, I checked the tracking number about every hour on the hour," Dempsey went on to say, "this morning the first thing we did was check it again to see if it was close or if it was in Harrington or could we go get it."

Both delivery companies declined to say how packages across the country didn't make it in on time.

UPS did not make pickups or deliveries on Christmas Day but planned to resume normally scheduled service the day after.
