Fans React to Redskins' Firing Coach Shanahan

Posted:

SALISBURY, Md.- Like Redskins' 3-13 season, Die-Hard fan Ricky McCoy, of Delmar, believes coach Mike Shanahan was a big let down.

"We've seen penalty after penalty, and a flag or this or that. It's tough but you got to let the coaches do their coaching, and you sit there and yell at the T.V. all night," said McCoy.

Some fans can't believe the same coach who led the redskins to the playoffs last season, is the same coach who led the team to one of its ugliest seasons since 1994. Many said Shanahan is to blame.

"You have a lot of owners that try to be coaches, and a lot of coaches who try to owners," said David Brewster, of Salisbury. "And there's a fine line between the two and I don't think either one of the two knew which one of their part was."

Earl Wood said Shanahan walked a tight-rope all season, and when the coach benched RGIII that was the tipping point.

"Shanahan should have never played him in a few games last year when he got hurt," said Wood. "And I think that messed him up somewhat. I really do. I think he need a little bit more time to recover even more."

As for Ricky and his Redskins, he said there's always next season. Even if it's still nine months away.
