Schools Win Del. Day Awards for Constitution Study

DOVER, Del. (AP/WBOC)- The Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs has announced the winners of the 2013 Delaware Day competition for students.

The annual contest encourages young students to study and understand the U.S. Constitution. The "Signers Awards" are named for Delaware's five signers of the Constitution.

The winners of the George Read Award were William C. Lewis Elementary School and a class at Brandywine Springs Elementary School. The Gunning Bedford Jr. Award goes to Brader and Gallaher elementary schools.

The Learning Express Academy won the Jacob Broom Award. Booker T. Washington Elementary School won the John Dickinson Award. And Blades Elementary School won the Richard Bassett Award.

Several other schools won honorable mentions.
