Workers Enduring Freezing Weather

DOVER, Del. – Although there was plenty of sunshine, it was freezing conditions outside. Many people spent the day bundled up indoors. But not everyone had that luxury. There were plenty of people that had to continue working in the freezing temperatures.

Kenton Bell Sr. of Dover had to walk home from work. He said it was freezing outside but he was able to handle the cold.

"I don't have too far to go now," said Bell. "I'll just go home and get me some hot chocolate or some coffee and get toasty."

Along Bay Road were two sub-contractors for Penta Communications.

"I'm lucky I get to sit in the truck most of the day," said Josh Carney. "It's not so bad for me."

His partner Mark Riden didn't have the same luck. He had to spend the day up in the air running wires for the company.

"It's freezing," said Riden. "My toes are cold my hands are freezing. I'm frozen."

He was all bundled up to endure the cold. But all of his preparation for the cold didn't help.

"I have so many layers on but they barely even work," said Riden. "It's definitely cold out here."

Post officer were hard as work too. Daniel Miller still had to get out and deliver mail.

"That's the job," said Miller. "Just layer up and it'll be alright. Just got to get the mail out."
