Emergency Water Main Repair in Lewes

Posted:

LEWES, Del. – The Board of Public Works in Lewes says there will be an emergency water main repair Wednesday night.

A water main broke this morning by the corner of 3rd Street and Savannah Road. According to officials, frozen valves made it impossible to shut down the water locally so they are now forced to shut down the entire system.

Public Works says the system will shut down at midnight and will stay closed for up to four hours.

Affected locations include Lewes and neighboring communities Wolf Point and Wolf Run.

Beebe Healthcare will lose their city water during the shutdown. Officials with Beebe tell WBOC there is a well available for non-drinking water use and an emergency supply of drinking water on hand at Beebe Healthcare.
