MAGNOLIA, Del.- Delaware State Police have arrested a Magnolia woman accused of firing shots at her boyfriend during an argument.

Jacqueline Hughes, 39, is charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first-degree reckless endangering, aggravated menacing, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Troopers said that shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday, they were dispatched to the 200 block of Lambert Drive in Meadowbrook Acres in Magnolia after receiving 9-1-1 calls about gunshots in the area. Police said that when troopers arrived, they learned that Hughes was shooting at an 18-year-old man, who was later determined to be her boyfriend.

Troopers said that when they conducted a search of the area, they found Hughes hiding under a rabbit hutch at a nearby home on Lambert Drive. Police said that after she was taken into custody, Hughes was found to be in possession of a .32-caliber revolver with five spent casings and one live round still in the cylinder. Hughes was also found to be in possession of more than 121 grams of marijuana and a digital scale, according to investigators.

When troopers went to the home where the dispute took place, they said they recovered an additional 126.8 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia from inside the house. Police said the investigation determined Hughes and her boyfriend had been arguing about drugs and the gun, which led to Hughes firing several rounds at the 18-year-old. Hughes' boyfriend was not injured in this incident, police said.

Hughes was transported back to Troop 3 where she was charged with the aforementioned offenses. She was ordered held in lieu of a $39,000 secured bond.
