Two-Way Operations Suspended for Md.'s Chesapeake Bay Bridge

SANDY POINT, Md.- Maryland officials are suspending two-way traffic on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Friday because of inclement weather.

The Maryland Transportation Authority says drivers may experience delays during Friday afternoon's rush hour. Officials will continue to monitor weather conditions and will allow two-way operations if possible.

Officials will implement wind warnings and restrictions as necessary. If winds reach gusts of 30 mph to 39 mph, motorists operating house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles and vehicles with roof-mount racks will be warned to use caution while crossing.

If wind speeds or wind gusts reach 40 mph to 49 mph, house trailers, empty box trailers or any vehicle vulnerable to high winds will not be allowed to cross.
