DOVER, Del. (AP)- Delaware Gov. Jack Markell says he is looking forward to a productive session of the General Assembly this year.

Markell said on Tuesday's opening day of the session that he wants to work with lawmakers on improving Delaware's schools and revitalizing the state's economy.

But Markell gave few clues about what he will present in his State of the State speech and the budget he will propose later this month.

Markell also wouldn't say whether he will be proposing any new taxes or fees to help meet the state's budget needs, or whether he would be proposing a pay raise for state employees.

The governor did say his administration is exploring a new compensation for Delaware's public school teachers, but that the effort was not intended to affect the upcoming budget year.
