One Killed, Two Injured in Md. Crash

Posted: Updated:

RELIANCE, Md.- Authorities say one person was killed and two others were injured after two cars collided in Reliance late Wednesday night.

Maryland State Police said the accident happened shortly before 11 p.m. According to investigators, a 2004 Honda Accord traveling westbound on Gales town Reliance Road failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and collided with a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am that was turning left onto Finchville Reliance Road.

Police said the driver of the Pontiac, 38-year-old Aimee Lou Bennett of Seaford, Del., was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she later died from her injuries. The Pontiac's front seat passenger, 41-year-old Thomas J. King, was also taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. The Pontiac's 17-year-old back seat passenger, was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. There is no word on the condition of either King or the 17-year-old.

Troopers said the driver of the first car refused medical attention and was not injured.

Police said charges are pending in connection with the crash.

Editor's note: Maryland State Police have confirmed that one person died in the crash, not two people as reported in an earlier version of this article. WBOC regrets the error.
