Delmar Man Arrested in Salisbury Shooting

SALISBURY, Md.- Salisbury police have arrested a man in connection with a Tuesday night shooting that left a man injured.

Police said the incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. at a home on the 400 block of Hammond street in reference to an assault with a firearm. According to investigators, Tyquan Williams and another unknown person were in a garage when the shooting occurred. Officers said Williams was shot once in the lower torso and was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police said that after the shooting, the suspect fled the area. During the investigation, detectives with the department identified the suspect as 18-year-old Jeremiah Townsend. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest charging him with attempted first-degree murder. Townsend was taken into custody Wednesday. Officers said they found drugs and several firearms in his home in Delmar, Del.

Townsend is being held at Sussex Correctional Institute. The two outstanding arrest warrants will be served when he is extradited back to Maryland.
