CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Wesley College's Carlton Sheppard has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday evening. Sheppard is the second Wolverine to garner ECAC weekly honors this season, joining freshman Markael Jenkins who received the award on December 12 after leading Wesley to a season-opening victory at the Ursinus Bow-Tie Classic.
A junior from Baltimore, Md., Sheppard, who was named the Capital Athletic Conference Athlete of Week on Tuesday, broke the school-record in the 800m Run (1:56.92) and ran the fastest leg of Wesley's CAC-record 4x400m Relay (3:24.20) at the Albany Grat Dane Classic. Both times are ECAC qualifying marks while the relay team of him, freshmen Evan Le'Mon and Dominic McAnulty, as well as junior Matt Bundy, is currently the fastest non-converted time in the Nation.
Sheppard and the Wolverines return to the track on January 24 when they travel for the six-team Muhlenberg Invitational.
