Perdue Presents Check to United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore

Posted:

SALISBURY, Md.- The United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore is getting a financial boost, thanks to Perdue Farms.

Perdue makes this contribution every year. This year's donation totaled $273,055.22. It was a collective effort of Perdue associates and company facilities in Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset and Dorchester counties, as well as a grant funded by the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation.

The United Way said the money will go a long way toward carrying out its mission on the Lower Shore.

"The funds that are raised by Perdue associates will truly mean that meals will be delivered for people who need Meals on Wheels," explained Kathleen Momme, executive director for United Way. "It will mean after-school program for children who would otherwise be home alone. It will mean uniforms for scouts like Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and it will also mean that there will be food on the table."

Perdue is the single largest contributor to the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.
