MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The 12th-ranked Wesley College men's basketball team edged Penn State Harrisburg, 66-63, on Thursday night at the Capital Union Building. Extending their winning streak to nine games, the Wolverines now stand at 14-1 overall and 7-1 in the Capital Athletic Conference while the Nittany Lions fall to 6-10 on the year and 3-5 in the CAC.

With just two seconds left, sophomore AJ Tilghman drilled a pair of free throws to give Wesley a three point lead.  Having to go the length of the court, Penn State Harrisburg turned the ball over with Eric Selby making the steal, sealing the victory for the Wolverines.

Penn State had a chance to possibly win the game as they had the ball with 12 seconds left and trailing by a single point at 64-63, however, Jamaal DuBose was credited with a turnover with two ticks remaining.

Poor free throw shooting by both teams the Wolverines kept the game close as Wesley shot just 14-of-27 from the line (51.9%), well below the 73.2% they shot as a team entering the game.  Penn State was slightly better, shooting 15-of-27.  One of the top rebounding teams in the Nation, Wesley was outrebounded, 37 to 26 on the night.

The Nittany Lions led by as many as seven points as they started the game on a 7-0 run that lasted three minutes and 44 seconds.  Wesley finally got on the board on a dunk by Pettiford and scored the next nine points to take its first lead of the game and led 31-26 at the half.  The five point differential at the half was as large as any lead held by either team in the second half.

With 6:30 left in regulation and the Wolverines trailing, 51-47, Jason Forges connected on a triple, starting an 8-0 Wesley run. Penn State attempted to answer Forges with a 3-point attempt of its own but fell short and Bowers was able to make an easy layup followed by a three by Youngblood.

Brandin Youngblood scored a game-high 14 points for the Wolverines while Tilghman tallied 11 points off the bench while making all but one of his four free throws. Well balanced for the game, the Navy & White also got nine points from Quincy Pettiford, eight points each by Wayne Lennon and Anthony Bowers, as well as seven points and seven assists from Selby.

Wesley returns to the hardwood on Saturday, January 25 when it travels to take on Southern Virginia for a 3 pm start.  The Wolverines were victorious over the Knights in Dover earlier this season, 67-51.
