HURLOCK, Md.- A Cordova man is facing assault and related charges following accusations that he pointed a gun at a woman's head.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office said that on Jan. 19, deputies responded to the 6800 block of Bobtown Road in Hurlock for a domestic assault. According to police, the investigation revealed that 33-year-old Michael Johnnell Thomas Jr., of Cordova, had gotten into an argument with a female resident. Investigators said that when the woman tried to leave, Thomas pulled out a handgun and pointed in at her head. She managed to escape the home until deputies arrived, police said. Police said that by the time got there, Thomas had fled but returned a short time later.

Thomas was charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and wearing and carrying a handgun. Police have not yet located the handgun alleged to have been used in the incident.

Following his arrest on the aforementioned charges, Thomas was released after posting $10,000 bond. The victim was not harmed in the incident, police said.
