DOVER, Del. (AP)- Gov. Jack Markell is set to provide more details on his proposal to spend an additional $500 million to improve roads and bridges in Delaware.

In his State of the State address last week, Markell proposed investing $1.1 billion in the state transportation trust fund over the next five years. That's a $500 million increase over the current spending plan.

Markell and Transportation Secretary Shailen Bhatt planned to hold a news conference Wednesday to provide more details on the plan.

Administration officials say the initiative will help create jobs, and that improving Delaware's transportation infrastructure is vital to building a strong economy.
