New Executive Director for Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce

Posted:

CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. – The Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce says it has a new executive director.

Evelyn Shotwell has taken over the position, after the retirement of Suzanne Taylor, according to the Chamber.

Shotwell started on Monday after nine months as director of sales at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Chincoteague Island.

She said she is excited about her new position.

"I'm happy to be part of the growth at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, where Orbital Sciences Corporation, Virginia Space Flight Authority, NASA and their partners are sending supply missions to the International Space Station," Shotwell said. "The Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce will be supporting these and other exciting missions as rockets and wild ponies learn to co-exist."

Shotwell came to Chincoteague in 1997 and opened an antique store with her husband.

Shotwell has a degree in Geology from North Carolina State University with a minor in Math.
