HARTLY, Del- Delaware State Police say they arrested a Hartly man after nearly 20 marijuana plants were found inside his home.

Troopers responded to the home of 57-year-old James W. Evans on the 100 block of Lockwood Chapel Road at around 8 p.m. Monday. According to investigators, troopers were serving a protection from abuse order at the time. A computer check also revealed that Evans had a capias out of the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.

Police said Evans was taken into custody without incident, but troopers saw what appeared to be an illegal marijuana grow operation inside a bedroom closet.

Authorities said they found 19 marijuana plants with a total weight of 7.5 grams. Investigators also said they found baggies, jars and pill bottles with marijuana seeds totaling more than 35 grams.

Troopers charged Evans with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ordered held on $5,200 secured bond.
