HARRINGTON, Del.- Authorities say a person was found dead inside a Harrington home following an early Wednesday morning fire.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze, reported shortly after 1 a.m., occurred at a home on the 7800 block of Vernon Road just west of the City of Harrington. The Harrington Fire Company responded to the fire. Firefighters extinguished the flames and found a victim's body inside the burning home.

Representatives from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner came to the scene and will conduct an autopsy later Wednesday. The identity of the victim has not yet been released. However, Harrington Assistant Fire Chief Kenny Brode said the victim was a disabled female with medical issues.

State fire investigators are searching for the fire's origin and cause. Heavy fire damage was estimated at $50,000. There were no other reported injuries.
